About the role
We're seeking an experienced social anthropologist to join our team in Oslo. This is a full-time, onsite position where you'll apply rigorous anthropological methods to understand and address complex social and cultural questions. You'll work in a professional environment that values deep research, fieldwork-based insights, and evidence-driven analysis.
What you'll do
You'll conduct qualitative research using ethnographic fieldwork, participant observation, and in-depth interviews to generate insights into social and cultural phenomena. Your work will involve designing research methodologies, collecting and analyzing data, and synthesizing findings into clear, actionable recommendations. You'll translate complex cultural insights for stakeholders who may lack anthropological training, ensuring your analysis drives real-world impact. You may also contribute to written outputs such as research reports, policy briefs, or academic publications that communicate your findings to diverse audiences.
Who you are
You hold a formal academic degree in social anthropology—at minimum a Bachelor's degree, though a Master's or PhD is preferred—from a recognized university. You bring at least seven years of professional experience applying anthropological methods in research, consulting, or applied settings. You're skilled in qualitative research methods and comfortable designing and executing ethnographic fieldwork or similar approaches.
You think clearly and communicate well, able to distill nuanced cultural and social observations into insights that non-specialists can understand and act on. You're comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and you're committed to rigorous, ethical research practice.
It's a bonus if you've produced written research outputs—reports, publications, or policy briefs—that demonstrate your ability to translate anthropological analysis into accessible formats.
