About the role
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our backend-focused engineering team in Berlin. You'll take ownership of production systems from initial design through deployment, operation, and incident response. This is a hands-on role where you'll work with Go and Kubernetes to build services that scale reliably.
What you'll do
You'll design and build backend services that handle real production workloads. Your day-to-day involves writing Go code, deploying to Kubernetes clusters, monitoring system health, and responding to incidents when they occur. You'll collaborate with teammates on architectural decisions, code reviews, and operational improvements. You'll own the full lifecycle of the systems you build—there's no handoff to another team once code ships.
You'll also contribute to how we operate infrastructure, improve deployment processes, and help other engineers understand the systems we maintain.
Who you are
You have shipped production backend services written in Go at meaningful scale. You've deployed and operated workloads on Kubernetes in production environments, so you understand how containerization and orchestration work in practice, not just in theory. You take end-to-end ownership of systems, from design decisions through on-call rotations and incident response.
Nice to have: Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure in a backend context. You've designed or maintained distributed systems—whether that's messaging systems, service meshes, microservices architectures, or similar. You communicate technical decisions clearly and work well across engineering teams.
Why join
You'll work with a team that values ownership and technical depth. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions about the systems you build and the opportunity to grow your expertise in cloud-native backend engineering. Berlin offers a strong tech community and quality of life, and we're committed to building an inclusive engineering culture.
